This being such a rookie lead team, you can see the inexperience in these situations.” is what Coach Hill had to say about the final 5 minutes of the game. Guelph scored to short handed goals in less than 40 seconds to tie the game before ultimately scoring the game winner with 2:18 remaining. The Gens would pull Kiaus Lalonde in a last minute in an effort to tie, but came up just short. “These guys are making efforts and putting themselves out there. They may be young but these young men are learning. This is a lesson on how we need to finish games and close out. I’m proud of what they accomplished tonight, they didn’t come into the locker room after being down 3-1 with a losing mentality. They fully believed they could compete. The energy I felt was completely different then years past. This isn’t the finished product by any means but they showed me something tonight.. and that’s heart.” said Coach Hill.
The Gens were lead by Joey Young with 4 goals and 1 assist and Owen Millar with 5 assists. Brayden Stearns scored not only his 1st JrB goal but his second and Garrett Liddiard followed suit with 2 goals. Kiaus Lalonde was excellent in net stopping 52/61 on the night. The Generals travel to Six Nations Friday to take on the rebels at the ILA 8pm.
